Description

The 2008 Penfolds Bin 620 Coonawarra Cabernet Shiraz is no doubt an expensive bottle of red wine.

Penfolds Blocks 5, 10 & 20 thrived in the 2008 vintage producing outstanding fruit quality with flavour and definition not seen since 1966. Such was the standard of the fruit from these blocks, wine makers simply had not choice but to make Penfolds Block 620, a wine similar in style and stature to the original 1966 Bin 620.

During Spring, frost pressure was eased due to above average spring rainfall.  The 2008 Coonawarra growing season was very dry.  Short hot spells and cool to mild periods in between, resulted in growers carefully monitoring and maintaining water and canopy management. This due diligence kept the vines in a healthy condition right up to and including harvest.

The 2008 Penfolds Bin 620 is a blend of cabernet sauvignon (51%) and shiraz (49%), all fruit sourced from the Coonawarra Wine Region, Penfolds Blocks 5, 10 and 20.  It was matured in new French (57%) and American (43%) oak hogsheads.  This wine will cellar for many decades.
