2009 Chateau Leoville-Poyferre, 2me Cru Classe. 100Pts Robert Parker Jnr. A modern Bordeaux classic and possibly the best wine produced ever made at Chateau Leoville-Poyferre. The 2009 Chateau Leoville Poyferre really is an amazing wine in so many ways.
Packed with the charm of a Prince and confidence family lawyer, layer upon layer of complex flavours, the wine is something to behold, it’s finish lasting for ages, it really is a dead set masterpiece. Blackcurrant, graphite, espresso, mocha, menthol, new saddle leather, sweaty jock strap nuances 😉 , blueberry to name a few. The flavours form and transcend into a beautiful segue which lead to the masses of delicate power and brut force of a scud missile proportions on to the palate, a similar experience to icy cold water running across that cavity of your First Molar #14, which has required filling for years, you know the type, it’s sheer force and flavours are so perdominat it’s like hitting a nerve in your mouth. Ultimately it’s a wine that dazzles, it possess wonderful characteristics and an entry price that will keep most punters, including myself away. Cellar for 50 years ++
