Description

2010 Penfolds St Henri – this wine is all the rage, it is highly sought by collectors. It has rocketed up in value since release and is currently trading on the secondary wine market around double its retail price. Penfolds didn’t release a lot of the 2010 St Henri and what was released was snapped up by savvy wine investors, collectors, their tennis partners and the like within a few weeks. After 3 months it had virtually fried up everywhere. In 2016 and 2017 a few bottles occasionally trickle through the secondary wine market, this could be due to some collectors wanting to realise a return on their initial investment.

2010 Penfolds St Henri has been awarded some very high scores by Australian Wine Critics, it is considered by some, to be the best St Henri released. Awarded 100Pts Andrew Caillard MW, 97+ points Lisa Perrotti-Brown – Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate and 97Pts Jeremy Oliver just to name a few.

2010 was a great vintage throughout South Australia and indeed for Penfolds. 2010 St Henri is 100% shiraz with fruit sourced from Penfolds Vineyards across the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Wrattonbully and the Clare Valley.

The 2010 Penfolds St Henri was matured for about 12 months in large old oak vats, this wine is all about fruit with oak playing a supporting type role. She weighs in at 14.5% alc/vol and will just about live forever. If you are going to drink now, definitely decant the wine for a few hours and serve it around 18 degrees if you can.
